A scarce Edinburgh made Polish Parachutist Badge, the Znak Spadochronowy ( swooping eagle) with the Arnhem wreath awarded to those who took part in Operation Market Garden
From the same collection as the previous example I recently offered, this Badge is constructed from non ferrous alloy, silver plated, oxidized and then lacquered. In excellent undamaged condition, unissued and with the lacquer still obvious. Interestingly, the wreath is attached by a single pin rather than being soldered.
The reverse is marked Tobie Ojczyzno (For you my country) and 494, which is the badge number. The wreath is number 1928, again the number of the wreath and not the recipient. The screw back fixing plate carries the details of the maker, Kirkwood and Son, Edinburgh.
