SOLD

A quite superb and virtually mint example of an early cased Fallschirmjäger Badge, by Wilhelm Deumer , retaining all of its original factory finish and completely free from damage or signs of wear .

The badge itself has an oval nickel silver wreath, with laurel leaves on the left half of the wreath, and oak leaves on the right half of the wreath. The swooping eagle is in gilded tombac clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. The reverse has two rivets holding the eagle firmly in place, the eagle impressed with “W. Deumer, Lüdenscheid”. The vertical needle pin, barrel hinge, and round wire catch are all in place and without bends or damage. Weight is 39.35 grams

The badge fits neatly into its early presentation case of issue, constructed of heavy cardstock, with a black textured faux leather (leatherette) exterior, the exterior of the case embossed with “Fallschirmschützen Abzeichen” in gold lettering. The lid is lined with a blue padded silk or rayon, the slotted medal bed covered in dark blue velvet. The lid closes firmly, the spring catch working well. Very good condition with light rubbing at the edges.

Overall, an outstanding example and one that would prove difficult to upgrade
