A very fine Tank Destruction Badge, “Sonderabzeichen für das Niederkämpfen von Panzerkampfwagen durch Einzelkämpfer”.
The badge shows a Panzer Mk IV and is constructed of blackened magnetic metal with very crisp details, superimposed on a silver celleon tight interwoven braid, edged on the top and bottom sides by two black rayon strips.
Overall condition is very good and backed with a field grey wool free from damage.
The Badge was awarded to individuals in the Wehrmacht who had single-handedly destroyed an enemy tank or “armoured combat vehicle” using a hand-held weapon
Instituted on March 9th, 1942, the silver grade was awarded for destruction of one tank.
