In order to confuse the Germans about the size and destination of the invasion of Europe, the Allies created a formation, the First U.S. Army Group, commanded by General George Patton.
The Army Group was initially staffed with actual divisions, but as they were transferred out, "Phantom" divisions were created.
For increased realism, radio traffic was generated, and patches were designed, produced, and worn. A total of 15 infantry divisions, 5 airborne divisions, and 3 armoured divisions were created.
These are the patches for 22 of the phantom divisions. All are in very good unissued condition.
