Only after considerable research was I able to positively identify what is in fact a scarce early Kriegsmarine Sports Vest insignia, pre dating the well-known blue eagle with outstretched wings.
Constructed of fine BeVo style yellow and blue embroidery on a white rayon base measuring approximately 105 x 98mm, the insignia is in overall very good unissued condition with just light signs age related storage.
