A rather scarce pair of WW1 German Doppelfernrohrer' Dienstglas '03 Binoculars complete their correct case, the case carrying the marks of weapon number 8 of the 37 Machine Gun Company.
The 6x24 glasses are constructed with an alloy body, with prism plates in brass. The right prism plate is marked B-Dienst, D.F 03 with the serial number below, the left plate with the maker’s name G. Rodenstock, Munich. The body is covered in a black leatherette which remain completely intact. Neck strap appears to be a modern replacement.
Overall condition is very good. There are some small chips to the synthetic (Bakelite) eye cups, but the optics are without damage though somewhat cloudy.
The Case is by Emil Busch, in excellent condition and constructed in brown leather with rear belt loops. Inside, the glasses are protected by felt padding whilst the lid carries the partly discernible instructions for the use of the glasses.
