A quite beautiful WW1 British Officer’s Mk V Pocket Compass by Dennison, Birmingham.
Dated 1916 and with a serial number of 85555 the front hinged cover also carriers the War Department arrow. The inside cover is stamped 53671 M.
The case measure approximately 45mm in diameter and has no silver makes so is presumably of nickel plated brass. A button sitting in the ring bow releases the front cover to reveal a dry aluminium card on a jeweled mount which appears still to give accurate readings.
Overall condition is very good with two light dents to the front cover.
