A scarce WW1 Ammunition Box designed for use in the MkV and Medium Mark A British Whippet tanks.
Constructed in light steel with a lift off lid revealing six compartments for the storage of articulated ammunition belts for the .303 Hotchkiss machine guns carried in the Whippet.
On one end is a leather carrying handle, a securing strap arrangement on the other. The lid carries the details whilst the remains of further details and instruction are on the inside of the lid. Overall condition is very good.
Interestingly an Edward V11 3p postage stamp in poor condition was found inside the box.
