A fine example of what I take to be a Nazi period Fireman’s presentation piece following closely in appearance the standard Dress Axe of the period.
Measuring 315mm in length, the Axe has a hardwood shaft with a circular chape decorated with an oakleaves and acorn design.
Midway along the shaft is a nickel plated plate neatly monogrammed HS whilst down from the Axe head are the mounts which on a dress piece would have taken the hanging straps.
The Axe head is again nickel plated and rather sharp, a nice engraving of crossed axes with a fireman’s helmet at centre.
Overall very good condition with some very minor nicks to the cutting edge.
An attractive display piece
