A very good example of a Civilian Police Pattern Cap in a large size and constructed in a high quality wool.
Police regulations stated that all such grey green Feldmütze caps were to be colour piped -green for Schutzpolizei and orange for Gendarmerie etc. Initially they were piped around the top and from 1942, piping was around the edge of the flap. The top edges of the side flaps are finished with a double row of stitches
Caps without piping as we have here are a bit of an anomaly but known to exist so were presumably private purchase.
Overall condition is very good with one moth hole and some minor moth trails, all of which I have tried to show. The lining is grey cotton and shows no signs of use.
The insignia is machine stitched in place and shows a good BeVo weave eagle.
