A slightly washed out but very good wartime Brassard to Journalist Frank Moore.
The white cotton Brassard bears the printed wording PRESS to the obverse whilst the inside is marked Moore Frank BY BD 1.
BYBD 37/1 is a wartime national registration number. The letter code BYBD shows that on the night of National Registration in 1939 he was living in the metropolitan Borough of Wood Green. The fact that is has an NR number suggests that is official.
The Ministry of information issued Press accreditation documents to newspaperman so these may have been supplemented with an Armband to show they had some sort of official status on the home front.
A wonderful piece of home front memorabilia worthy of further research.
