SOLD

An exceptional late 19th century Blackfoot – Cree North American Indian Revolver Holster.
Measuring approximately 190 mm x 135mm the Holster is made with thread and sinew sewn in trade beads of pink, red, black, blue, green, pale green, translucent gold and translucent red in a diamond squares design on recycled commercial leather.
"Sinew thread" is animal sinew and was used before cotton thread. It is a sign of early North American Indian manufacture. “Trade Beads” are so called as these were often traded with settlers for animal skins etc.
The Holster is in very good condition with no loss to the bead work and with the leather remaining supple.
