An exceptionally rare, and certainly the first I have encountered, of a 1917 dated Webbing Holster for the large WW1 service issue .455 Webley revolver.
Covered on the Karkee Web for which I give credit for much of the information, these holsters with ammunition pouch were sold by the Mills Company as part of a private purchase set for which this component was termed “the left hand assembly”.
Clearly the forerunner of the ’37 pattern Holster, the muzzle end is woven as a closed envelope, with the lower corners turned inside the seam and stitched into place. Attached is a pouch for the 12 rounds which in this case has a horizontal looped strap to accommodate the brace strap on the left side.
A seldom seen opportunity to acquire a very rare Holster in very good condition.
