A good example of the so called Type 1 Coconut Canteen, being the M31 aluminium Canteen encased within a cover of wood strips with a veneer or resin added.
Generally referred to as being for tropical use this example by the maker 'H.R.E' ('Heinrich Ritter' from 'Esslingen') and dated 1943
The steel drinking cup is by esb and again dated 43.
The harness is generally very good but with what appears to be a field repair to reattach the carrying clip to the harness strap.
