German M44 P.O.W. Trousers

German M44 P.O.W. Trousers

SOLD

A very good and really rather interesting pair of German M44 Trousers which I feel confident were once worn by a Prisoner of War in England, the remains of a whited painted P6 still visible on the left leg, slightly above the knee. P6 was the number allocated to both Long Marston camp in Warwickshire and to the camp located on Doncaster racecourse. Given the pattern of Trouser it is quite possible these were worn by one of Prisoners taken after D Day

The Trousers themselves are in very good condition. The cloth is clean and shows little signs of wear. There is no moth damage, the only other damage being a hand finished patched repair to the seat.

In keeping with the pattern there are two diagonal and flapped front pockets, a flapped watch pocket and two flapped back pockets. The fly is closed by four buttons along with one at the waist. The waistband has eight belt loops and retains the original heavy cotton herringbone pattern belt with black claw buckle. At the end of each leg is a single internal butt and securing loop.

A very nice pair of Trousers with an interesting history, the last image showing Long Marston Camp 6 as it is today after repatriation of the land.
