A standard issue German Cooking Pot (Kidney Shaped Mess Tin), over spayed in an ordnance tan which I believe to be period applied.
Of aluminium construction overall condition is very good the hinge mount for the lid clearly stamped DA42.
As well as for dispensing cooked liquid such as soup, the lid doubled as a frying pan. Three division down the front of the pot indicated rations.
Accompanying the Cooking Pot is a brown leather securing strap. This is in fact an original Zeltbahn strap, too short for the job but indicative of a field improvisation.
