A charming and absolutely original U-Boat Traditions Badge from my own collection.
Approximately 28mm in length, the Walking Polar Bear was originally part of a provenanced group of artifacts offered for sale as separate lots on the Wehrmacht Awards Forum, having previously been discussed to positive approval:
Measuring just 28mm in length and constructed in a non magnetic gilded metal, a letter of provenance included in this sale states that the Badge was originally obtained by Paul Wallgarten, who served on U-3018, from the widow of a comrade perhaps lost on U-405, which used the emblem of a walking Polar Bear.
It was later sold by the family to a German collector from whom I acquired it.
Overall condition is very good with some loss to the gilding.
