Vietnam War Period US M6 Bayonet and Scabbard

Code: 56478

SOLD

A good example of the M6 Bayonet used by the U.S. military for the M14 rifle and the Mk 14 Enhanced Battle Rifle as well M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle during the Vietnam war.

Introduced in 1957, at the same time as the rifle itself, it was the only bayonet made for the M14. Overall condition is very good but with a chip to one side of the plastic grip where it meets the pommel. There is also some play to the crossguard which is stamped to the manufacturer, Columbus Milpar & Manufacturing Co which dates the bayonet to between 1961-67 when this company held the contract.

The improved M8A1 scabbard is very good. Manufactured later in WW II has the M1910 bent wire hook. The scabbard throat flange is stamped "US M8A1" on the flat steel part along with manufacturer initials.
