A fine example of a Kriegsmarine Pea Jacket to an Obergefreiter with the career path of a Torpedo Mechanic.

Often referred to as the “Collani” in reference to a well known uniform manufacturer in Berlin, this Jacket is constructed in a heavy ribbed wool material and is closed by five double rows of gilt buttons all marked on the reverse Kriegsmarine and 42, and two further upper buttons to allow the lapels to be closed.

In the second button hole is ribbon for the Iron Cross Second Class which was no date added later by a collector as this is a full length ribbon. There are loops for three awards on the left side and two flapped hip pockets.

On the right breast is a machine embroidered BeVo type eagle and Swastika more usually associated with the pullover shirt, whilst a pair of plain cornflower blue wool collar tabs are stitched to the upper lapels.

The left sleeve has the double rank chevrons of an Obergefreiter in a golden tresse, above which is the career insignia of a Torpedomechaniker in golden wire.

Inside, the Jacket is lined with a heavy ribbed wool material with two pockets. There is a coat hanger and the lining to the right sleeve is marked with the measurements (approx. a 100cm chest) details of the maker and 42 date.

Overall condition is very good with no sign of moth or other damage.
