A very good example of an 1855 Pattern Imperial Prussian Infantry Pioneer’s Short Sword Faschinenmesser (Fascine Knife) by PDL (P.D. Luneschloss Solingen) with Scabbard.
The sword is profusely marked on the cross guard and scabbard to the 12th Pioneer Kompanie (12.P.k) with the number “36” after that being the weapon number and with previously assigned regiment numbers crossed out.
The brass handle is grooved with a ball pommel and straight cross guard.
The blade has an Imperial inspection mark on one side and manufacturer marks ‘PDL’ to the reverse for P.D. Luneschloss Solingen. It remains free from damage and is a full 480mm in length.
The scabbard is leather with brass locket and chape and is again in very good condition.
