An exceptionally rare unissued pair of 1901 Pattern Naval Accoutrement Gaiters.
Very little information seems to be available on these which correctly termed Gaiters, worn by the Royal Navy and of course the Royal Naval Division, Marines and the Royal Australian Navy.
Constructed in a mid brown canvas reenforced with leather they are closed by three Dutch laces threaded through brass eyelets then looped together and held in place by a single strap at the top while an ankle strap secures them at the shoe.
28 cms in height, each are maker marked H. Feld, London 1914. Both are in excellent as new condition, the only issue being that two brass eyelets on one Gaiter have lost their female parts.
