A very good 1939 dated Luftwaffe Service Dress Tunic to a Flieger in a Flak Regiment.

Constructed in the standard blue / grey material, the tunic is in very good condition with just two pin head sized moth nips that I could find.

There are two pleated and flapped lower bellows pockets and two breast pleated and flapped breast pockets all secured by pebbled unpainted buttons matching the five front closure buttons. When worn fully closed there is a hook and eye arrangement at the neck with a cloth strap and button to allow the collar to be worn up.

Each sleeve terminates in a full French cuff, a 9 month Flak Artillery Speciality Badge to the lower left sleeve.

Above the right breast pocket is a hand applied eagle and Swastika whilst the red backed collar tabs reflect the rank. There is no waffenfabe piping to the collar, this suggesting the Tunic was isuued after March 1940. The slip on shoulder boards would appear to be a latter addition with evidence of a stitched in pair having been removed.

Inside, the blue grey lining is nicely marked but openings to the lining at the shoulder reflect my thoughts on the shoulder straps.

Nevertheless, a very nice early Luftwaffe other ranks Tunic.
