A very good and impressive example of a 1944 dated General Service cap to the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
The Cap is in overall very good condition with just one small moth hole to the brim.
On the right side of the Cap (in tradition with the Irish Regiments) is the grey feather hackle of the Inniskillings over the red triangle which would have sported the cap badge on a slider. The badge is not present. At the back of the cap are two brass enamelled eyelets.
Inside, the quilted cotton lining shows very little signs of use with good clear stampings including the WD “M” date stamp.
The General Service Cap was introduced in 1943 as an economy replacement for the Field Service Cap
