An excellent example of an early Luftwaffe Flak Oberstleutnant’s Tunic.
I believe privately tailored, the Tunic is constructed in a high quality blue grey ribbed wool, closed by four pebbled and silvered buttons. There are two lower pockets and two pleated breast pockets all flapped and closed with matching pebbled buttons. The left breast pocket has loops for two awards and loops for a medal bar above. The right breast pocket has one pair of loops suggesting this officer was perhaps a Gold Cross winner or holder of a Spanish Cross. Above the right pocket is a hand applied early droop tail eagle in silver wire.
The collar is piped with a twisted silver cord and carries the hand embroidered collar tabs of an Oberstleutnant with the red Waffenfarbe of the Flak/ Artillery branch of service. At each shoulder are the sew in boards appropriate to the rank. Each cuff terminates with a full French cuff.
The Tunic is lined with a full silk/rayon lining with one inside pocket and an opening to allow dagger hangers straps to be attached to a belt.
Overall condition is excellent with on very small moth hole which I have highlighted.
A quite outstanding example to a high ranking officer
