A very good example of the rare early aluminium Juncker J2 Radio Operator/Air Gunner badge.
The precursor of the Tombak J2, it was soon realised that aluminium as a critical war material was going to be more needed than other materials and production of the aluminium badges was short lived, hence the rarity.
This example is in very good condition but with the two rivets securing the chemically darkened eagle to the bright aluminium wreath, replaced. In my view this is a typical period repair using aircraft grade aluminium rivets, both carefully etched to match the feathers in the wing.
Whilst I have hopefully adjusted the price to allow for the repair, it is actually a feature I have seen on more than one occasion with these aluminium badges and one that I have no object to. This badge has seen combat, the original rivets failing under the weight of a Schwimmweste, and parachute harness.
Pin set up and hinge are working perfectly
