A very good and completely inert example of a Zeitzünder M15 Grenade. Colloquially known as the "Guguruz" (corn-on-the-cob) these were introduced by the Austro-Hungarian Army in late 1914 or early 1915.
Due to its heavily segmented cast-iron body, it was intended to be defensive and designed to be highly versatile, capable of being used as a hand grenade, a rifle (rod) grenade, or even launched via slingshot. The long steel wire handle served as a throwing aid and allowed soldiers to hook the grenade onto their belts.
"Zeitzünder" literally translates to "time fuse". It utilized a pull-fuse or friction igniter with a delay of approximately seven to eight seconds.
Generally in very good condition.
