British Victorian Shovel Head, 1860 Dated

An 1860 dated Victorian British Army Shovel Head marked to the maker SACEKET (?) and with a clear WD stamp. This piece was recovered in France and was presumably used during WW1, however, I did a little research and was amazed to find how many conflicts the British had been involved in during the period 1860 – 1915.

The spade head measures 36 cms. from the tip to the base and 26cms at the base, excluding the fitting for the handle.
