A quite beautiful Carved Wooden Luftwaffe Plate measuring approximately 255mm in diameter and inscribed “Gross kampffliegerschule 3/3 Technische Kompanie, Weihnachten 1941” ( Bomber School 3/3 Technical Company Christmas 1941) with two Swastikas.
The dished plate features the Luftwaffe eagle at centre and is in excellent condition, perhaps made of beech or a similar wood. The reverse is stamped “Zakopane”, an aera of Poland famous for it’s woodworking, this Bomber School being stationed in Poland in the same year
On 1 Nov 1938 the unit became Grosse Kampffliegerschule Lechfeld, by absorbing Fliegerlehrgang Oldenburg, from 1 Jan 1940 Stab/Grosse Kampffliegerschule Warschau-Okecie, and on 15 Jan 1940 became Stab/Grosse Kampffliegerschule 3.
A lovely example of Germanic passion for art.
