Formerly part of the Gordon Williamson collection (author The War Merit Cross) is this cased early example of the War Merit Cross First class constructed in silver plated Tombak.
Produced by Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid the fixing pin carries the typically small “4” being the Lieferant number for this maker.
The Cross is in very good undamaged condition with a nice patina to the silvered finish. The case is again in very good condition, a little dusty and with one small mark to the satin covered padding in the lid. The closure catch remains strong.
