The chambers from a Coffman starter used on numerous wartime aircraft and shown in one of the images in place on the Merlin engine of a Spitfire. Approximately 120mm in length.
Making a wonderful desk ornament and pen holder, overall condition is very good, never cleaned, and with light surface rust spots on the steel components, the tubes being stainless steel.
The Coffman engine starter used a cordite cartridge to move a piston, which cranked the engine.
