Early Luftwaffe Kienzle Clock Mounted in a Propellor Boss

Code: 56294

SOLD

An early 8 Day Kienzle Aircraft Clock set in a short section of wooden propellor creating a quite beautiful desk ornament.

The Clock is approximately 850 mm in diameter with a black dial with Roman numerals. Dial, numerals, and hands are clear and without loss to the luminous paint. There is a secondary seconds dial complete wit its sweep hand. The dial is marked, Kienzle, 8 Tage, FL22602 and with the serial number 14135 below.

The Clock runs very well and appears to keep good time with winding accomplished by rotating the outer bezel. Time is set by moving a lever outside the bezel, the bezel then used to set time. A red arrow on the glass is used to record time of flight. The is some cratching to the glass.

Although best know to have been used in the JU52s these clocks were of course employed in other types and scratched in the rear case is FW44 (Focke Wulf 44) and early Luftwaffe Biplane used for training Pilots.

Set into a section of beautifully finished laminated wood propeller, quite possibly from a FW44 with both prop section and base in excellent condition.
