A collection of 10 original Photographs attached by photo corners to pages from a photograph album showing Long Range Desert Group soldiers undergoing parachute training. Also included are a number of local interest Photocards.
All in very good condition with two over exposed and all nicely annotated.
With the surrender of the Axis forces in Tunisia in May 1943, the LRDG changed roles and moved operations to the eastern Mediterranean, carrying out missions in the Greek islands, Italy and the Balkans.
The LRDG was sent to Lebanon to retrain in mountain warfare and undertook parachute training which is where I believe these pictures were taken. In August 1944, British Squadron patrols were parachuted into Yugoslavia.
