A very good example of the iconic British Guards Other Ranks Bearskin.

First adopted by the British Army after the Battle of Waterloo of 1815 the Bearskin has remained on issue to the Guards Battalions ever since with very little change.

Such a long history makes them quite difficult to date accurately, I believe though this a to be a post war incarnation dating anywhere between the 1950s and the 1980s.

The Bearskin in very good condition with no damage and the tonged leather lining strong. It is complete with its original leather backed brass chin scales, however there is no battalion hackle. These are removal, in service however they would be worn the left or right hand side of the Bearskin depending on the battalion.

The Bearskin comes with a japanned metal carrying tin. This is not original to the Bearskin but fits it rather well.
