Without doubt the best example of a Luftwaffe LKpW101 Winter Flying Helmet I have been able to offer for some considerable time.
Constructed in dark brown chromed leather the Helmet is complete with its throat microphones, receivers and lead, the microphones being the early round Mi4c Ln26779-3 by Deutsche Telephonwerke und Kabelindustrie A.-G., Berlin SO 36, the safe manufacturer as the Helmet itself.
Externally the helmet is excellent, the only damage being the loss of one press fastener on the throat microphone strap. The leather is soft and free from damage with very minor wear on the high points of the earpieces.
Both chinstraps and buckles are in place as are the three oxygen mask hooks, goggle straps and side adjustment straps. The throat microphones are undamaged and are interesting in that the Bakelite covers are a reddish brown in colour. The electrics lead is without splits or cracks and the connector plug in place.
Inside, the sheepskin lining is clean and intact, both receivers present with their covers intact.
The manufacturer’s label is clear and shows the relevant details the size, 58.
It would be difficult to upgrade this lovely Helmet.
