An M40 Reissue Army Helmet with the reissue rough grey green finish. There is no damage to the shell and although no maker or size markings are visible on the inner lip due to the reissue paint it is however no smaller than a size 64.
The liner band sits tightly against the shell with a1940 date is just visible. The leather tongues remain supple and intact with one small rip, the owner’s name clear. The original drawstring is in place.
The chinstrap buckle has broken away from the short strap, the long strap weak.
Despite its drawbacks the basis for a very presentable helmet remains.
