Despite missing it’s liner this WW1 M17 German Camouflaged Helmet is without question one of the best I have ever handled.
Discussed to complete approval on the GHW2 (German Helmets Walhalla) Forum, the shell is completely without damage and retains virtually all of the period applied camouflage finish which follows exactly the pattern prescribed by orders.
The vents lugs are of the M1 style appropriate to the size, this being an SE66 shell.
Inside, the skirt is also painted with tan brown paint, a feature I love to see. Another interesting feature is how the owner has hammered the ends of the mounts for the chinstrap to prevent them from falling off.
A truly lovely example.
