A virtually mint condition Imperial German Schützenschnur or marksman/shooting lanyard.
Late WWI to Weimar period lanyard, consisting of a heavy twisted interwoven silver-aluminium bullion cord with button loops at both ends. There is a strip of silver white fabric stitched to the inside length of the cord. At the top end of the cord is a flat section of interwoven braid backed in field grey wool.
This is the basic or lowest grade of Schützenschnur without the acorn attachment.
Difficult to upgrade lanyard.
