From my own collection and in truth I really can’t remember how long I’ve owned these Kriegsmarine Equipment Support (Y) straps which I acquired as a boy growing up in Jersey. Without giving too much away I must have owned them for about 60 years.
They came from a house in St. Brelade, a short walk from the only Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery Battery in Jersey, Batterie Lothringen at Noirmont Point and I have always assumed that is where they were picked up after the Liberation.
Clearly maker marked and dated 1939 they remain in excellent condition, the leather still supple and free from damage. The owner’s name is still there but I cannot quite make that out and the straps are of course profusely KM marked.
