Luftgau Norway Honour Plaque with Photograph

A Luftwaffe Honour Plaque constructed of patinated cast zinc, the obverse bearing central raised inscriptions of “FÜR BESONDERE LEISTUNG” (“FOR OUTSTANDING MERIT”) and “DER KOMMANDIERENDE GENERAL UND BEFEHLSHABER IM LUFTGAU NORWEGEN” (“THE COMMANDING GENERAL AND SUPREME COMMANDER OF LUFTGAU NORWAY”), topped by a raised Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a reindeer mounted by a rider, the reverse with a hanging bracket. Engraved with issue number 774 and maker marked “KUSU, OSLO”, it measures 110 mm (w) x 150 mm (h). Very good condition.

Accompanying the plaque is an original 140mm x 91mm photograph of a Luftwaffe Officer which I take to be the recipient of the Plaque.

Complete with its original cardboard case of issue, also in very good condition and bearing the recipient’s name and number 774 in pencil.
