An exceptionally rare and of course absolutely original, Second Pattern Lanyard for the Luftwaffe Gravity Knife and Flare Pistol.
Originally issued in the card box with the knife, these are seldom seen, especially in this apparently unissued condition.
Approximately 137cms in length, the Lanyard features a single nickel plated clip bound by twine to the cord. The second clip was omitted on later Lanyards as an economy measure, as we have here, and later still the clip was Parkerized.
Issued to both Fallschirmjager and aircrew, the last image shows a similar example still in place on the ultra-rare leather Luftwaffe flying suit I have for sale elsewhere on the website, (item 57901) where two are in place to secure a Gravity knife and Flare Pistol.
An excellent example.
