Constructed of mustard yellow coloured rubberised canvas, featuring a stole-type inflation chamber to the front and around the neck, the vest is fastened across the front by two thin straps which secure to corresponding metal rings, and a larger canvas waistbelt fitted through belt loops to either side of the waist. The upper section of the back terminates in between the shoulder blades, where a stitched-on strap runs down the back and under the groin, intended to be fastened to a metal loop on the lower front.
To the front lower left is provision for a metal carbon-dioxide canister secured by a wide loop of matching rubber backed material. Photographed without the air bottle in place to allow for overseas shipping, the correct bottle will be included for orders within the UK mainland only. I will not be able to include the air bottle for overseas or UK offshore buyers.
Above on the left breast is a vertically-oriented rubber pipe with plastic mouthpiece for means of manual inflation, secured by a thin loop. The mouthpiece shows signs of having been repaired and leaks when trying to inflate the jacket.
In the neck, a good clear stamp remains, Schwimmweste Type 10-30 B-2
Ideal for display with two period applied matching patches at the neck, there is evidence of restitching to the edge of the right lobe which may have resulted in the vest not holding air. The fabric through remains soft and supple.
