A very nice example of a Luftwaffe Officer's Fliegermütze (Officer’s side or overseas cap) tailored in a whipcord Tricot material of the type generally associated with wear by officers.
Each side panel is finished with the silver aluminium braid of an officer, while the first pattern eagle and rosette are hand embroidered in silver bullion. Despite being absolutely correct for the officer’s Fliegermutze it seems quite uncommon to find bullion insignia on these officer’s caps, most being the machine embroidered cotton thread. A nice feature making this an attractive piece.
There are some moth nips to the side panels and the right top edge which I have tried to show in the images.
Lined with an undamaged blue/ grey rayon showing very little signs of use and stamped 55.
Overall appearance of the cap, which was originally found in Jersey, is very good.
