A fine example of a Luftwaffe winter fur hat (Pelzmutze) in white suede sheepskin with green cloth backed natural coloured leather peak or visor.
Interestingly, both the machine embroidered eagle and the rosette have a black wool backing rather than the normal blue/grey which would suggest the Hermann Goring Division which did of course also serve in Russia. Although very nicely applied, close inspection does reveal additional stich holes so, not unusually, the insignia may have been re applied. Nevertheless, Hermann Goring insignia is scarce.
At each side are drop down ear flaps which can be worn up or down and secured in position by a single cream coloured button. When worn down, an additional flap can be opened to improve hearing, and this fitted with a single PRYM press fastener.
Inside, the neck and flaps retain the sheep fur without loss.
Overall condition is very good with no damage
