A good example of the German Winter Fur Cap, the Pelzmutze, used in winter conditions and of course often seen in images of Luftwaffe ground and flying troops on the Eastern Front.
Constructed from natural sheepskin with a peak or visor in leather with a cloth underside, the Cap has fold down sides. When not in use, the sides are secured above the Cap with a simple cord and button which also serves to secure the sides in the down position. Inside, the cap is fully lined with the reversed sheepskin.
The machine embroidered insignia is in place, close inspection suggesting it having been reapplied as is usually the case.
Overall condition is very good. There is a split at the seam were the left side flap joins the body of the cap and wear to the cloth on the underside of the peak at the edge.
