A very good condition ceremonial dress dagger issued to Army officers of The People's Republic of Bulgaria.
Features a brass crossguard with brass fittings, the grip is of celluloid that is finished to resemble ivory and is inlaid with brass decorative strips.
The pommel features the Communist Star on a pebbled or dotted background.
The dagger can be disassembled by unscrewing the star pommel.
The typically unmarked steel double fullered blade is in good condition with no damage and the red fibre washer is in place.
Nickel silver plated steel scabbard in excellent condition with only minor age and wear.
Featuring gold finished brass throat mounts with the Bulgarian Heraldic Lion superimposed over a rising sun to the obverse, with the reverse showing a representation of the Sofia Party House, this being the Bulgarian Communist Party Headquarters.
The original gold finished brass double-chain suspension hangers are in place and are in overall excellent condition.
The belt clip is in perfect working order with a strong spring.
Overall a very nice and complete early Cold War era dagger.
