Often described as being used by the NSFK which may possibly be true at a later date, this is in fact a Luftwaffe Motor Cyclists Helmet issued up until 1938 when they were withdrawn from service and replaced by the standard Luftwaffe steel Helmet.
Quite rare to find, this black leather crash helmet has a protective cylindrical padding, one-piece neck protector with earflaps and chinstraps with press fasteners, straps above the visor and 16 inset screened ventilation holes in the 6 leather segment top.
Inside, the padded quilted lining is stamped 56 along with the maker’s details, the reverse of the leather sweatband with the Luftwaffe L.B.A inspection stamp ( Luftwaffe Bekleidungs Ampt)
Overall condition is excellent, with minor surface cracking to the chinstrap only.
