Published "Cut out" Panzer Assault Badge by Petz & Lorenz

Code: 58340

£1,500.00 Approx $1986.75, €1764.71, £1500

Whilst the high quality Panzer Assault Badges by the maker Petz & Lorenz are amongst the rarest and most sought after, this ultra rare “cut out” example is even more so, given its heritage. Once in the collection of Philippe de Bock, this actual badge is pictured on page 996, volume 11 of his excellent work “The German Panzer Assault Badge of WW11”

Constructed in hollow back Tombak, this silver grade Badge remains in very good condition showing just light of wear to the finish. The pin and hinge set up is of course in keeping with the maker, but the original catch has been replaced with a soldered on “C” hook.

The “cut out” refers to the removal of the grass area below the tank’s tracks. These badges were never produced without that part of the badge, and it is generally accepted this was done in the field or at depot. Similarly, the reason for it is unknown although theories abound.

An extremely rare and published Badge
