A quite beautiful example of a mid war RAF Irvin Jacket correctly termed Jackets Thermally Insulated.
The jacket is in very good condition. The leather is supple and retains most of its original chromed finish. There are no repairs or damage, and all stitching is firm and intact. All three DOT zips are original to the Jacket, operate perfectly and have AM marked pulls with their leather tabs. The waistbelt is in place with its nickel plated claw buckle as is the leather collar strap and securing rings. Cuffs and lower trim the smallest amount of wear.
There is no elastic strap beneath the collar and one of the hook eyes is missing.
The inside of the Jacket is no less pleasing. The body is a dense long fur, the collar a shorter fur. Both are without loss or wear and remain clean. There is no label, but a strong leather hanging strap is in place.
Measurements: Armpit to Armpit, 40”. The Jacket is photographed on a bust with a 36” chest with room to spare so it would nicely fit that chest size with just light clothing.
Shoulder to cuff 23”, base of neck to the bottom of the Jacket, 23”
An exceptionally nice example
