RAF Wareings Suit Jacket.

RAF Wareings Suit Jacket.

Code: 55851

SOLD

Despite being a small size 36 this so called Irvin Jacket is without doubt one of the finest I have seen.

Formerly part of a large collection established in the early 70’s which ultimately established the huge interest we now have in aviation flying clothing, the Jacket by Wareings was once part of a Wareings Suit and carries the Wareings label with a 1941 contract date.

Overall condition is near excellent. The chromed leather is soft and without damage retaining virtually all of it’s original colour. All stitching is firm and intact, the nickel plated zips and runners operating perfectly. The main zip carries a Lightning pull, the sleeves DOT and all three have their leather tabs. The elastic strap is in place outside the collar.

The belt and buckle show virtually no wear and the only signs of wear to the fur is on the inner edge of the cuffs where they have rubbed against the trousers and at the lower edge at the back from sitting.

Inside, the fur is no less pleasing and shows an attractive mix of short fur to the wind flap, the rest of the Jacket with a much longer and warmer fur.

Above the Wareings label the nickel plated hanging chain hangs from a single rivet, the right hand rivet now missing.

A beautiful Jacket for the true collector which fits well on a 36” chest mannequin.
