Rare 1942 Dated British

Rare 1942 Dated British "Overalls Tank Crews" Size 6

RESERVED

Introduced in 1942 the short lived British “Overalls, Tank Crews” proved to be less successful than expected and was superseded the following year with a new design.

Rare to find in any condition this superb example is in excellent unissued condition. Dated 1942 and in a large size 6,it is constructed in a heavy Khaki cotton fabric treated with a waterproofing solution.

Of “step in” design, front closure is with eight buttons covered with a wind flap and terminating with a collar which can be worn flat or raised up with a closure strap.

There are two unflapped pockets at the waist each secured by a single Newey press fastener and a zip to the side of these pockets to allow access to the Battledress pockets.

The left leg has a large flapped map pocket whilst on the right side is a dressings pocket and a flapped pocket intended for the storage of a pistol.  Each cuff can be closed and adjusted by two buttons and a strap and button secures the leg openings over the boots.

Shoulder straps allow for rank slips if worn, a heavy fabric board inside the suit keeping them rigid.

Inside, the Overalls are unlined, a strong webbing harness arranged to allow a wounded soldier to be pulled clear from above.

Completely free from damage with all buttons and press fasteners in place and with the zips working perfectly, it would be impossible to upgrade this excellent example
